Bags2School Gift-Giving Ceremony initiated by one of our strategic partners, Rotary Club of Johor Bahru Sentral. Bags2School is a community project under Yayasan Rotary.

Mari Membaca KDSM kids got to learn basic colouring and drawing techniques from a special guest, Teacher Yuhanis.

The KDSM kids got the opportunity to learn new counting and memorising techniques with a Mathematics expert from Matematika Alif & Learning Consultancy who were brought in by the Sultan Ismail Library.

Welcoming the new year, we are delighted to invite all to come with your children to join in the "𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧" 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗘, cooperation between students from the Science of Volunteerism Course Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Kios Bacaan Komuniti KDSM - Mari Membaca team.

DRUG PREVENTION EDUCATION PROGRAMME - “OUR COMMUNITY, OUR RESPONSIBILITY”

As the last programme for the year 2023, we had a collaboration between students from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Skudai and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Pasir Gudang semester 1 2023/2024 at the Mari Membaca Kiosk - KDSM.

This collaboration programme’s objective is to serve as a way of sharing knowledge between university students and the local community regarding drug prevention.

We are back with the second sports day event for Mari Membaca KDSM and this time we had the delight of having Shattuck - St. Mary's Forest City International School organising this meaningful event for the KDSM children.

We had the pleasure of Balai Polis Majidee present to witness the event happening as well.

In collaboration with MBJB and Happy-Riders Connect, selected Mari Membaca KDSM children had the opportunity to participate in the Leadership & Character Building Camp under the Smart Healthy City (a programme under Iskandar Malaysia). This programme is in support of Iskandar Regional Development Authority and Rotary Club of Johor Bahru Sentral.

Through this camp, we aim to motivate the spirit of leadership and character-building among the participants, as well as adopt a healthier lifestyle. Among the activities in the camp programme are sports, cooking, tying techniques, first-aid and storytelling with the facilitators.

In conjunction with Malaysia's 66th Independence Day, we have conducted a colouring contest for Mari Membaca KDSM children and even those outside of KDSM were welcome to join.

The objective of this colouring contest was to encourage children to expand their creativity and imagination to help stimulate their senses as well as build up the patriotic spirit for their country.

For this school holiday term, Mari Membaca arranged a competition in Building Replicas / Monuments Using Recycled Items for Mari Membaca members and even children from different communities.

The objective of this competition is to encourage the children to tap deeper into their creativity and realise the importance of teamwork.

We had the pleasure of organising a Mari Membaca Raya Open House 2023 for everyone who has supported our programme, including registered members, our strategic partners, and the members' parents.

A school holiday programme bringing the registered Mari Membaca members on a field trip to explore the Sultan Ismail Library and get to know about the previously launched Lestari, a low-carbon community hub. This also serves as a reward for the children who have been actively borrowing the books from Kios Bacaan Komuniti - KDSM (Kiosk Mari Membaca).

Together with the Sultan Ismail Library and Happy-Riders Connect, we invite you all to come over to the library kiosk on 26 November 2022 to join in the Reading Session with volunteers from the Kyoto Environmental Activities Association (KEAA) !

Let's cultivate the reading habit together with new friends this weekend!

Story Time with Puan Zilla Lamin under the school tree! She'll share a story from a book titled, 'Lebai Malang Langkahan Malang'. It is a story about some unfortunate events Pak Lebai goes through on one particular day.

The KDSM kids were given the opportunity to go on an educational field trip to the Sultan Ismail Library in conjunction with the school holidays.

We're giving out vouchers to members who actively read and borrow books with us!

Members can claim vouchers from 23 July 2022 until 6 August 2022 during the Mari Membaca programme at the Kios Bacaan Komuniti.

Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Wilayah Selatan (DBPWS) together with Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB), Rotary Club of Johor Bahru Sentral dan Happy-Riders Connect held a the Jerayawara Bahasa & Baca Bersama-sama Komuniti (Siri 1) on 24 & 25 June 2022.

On 25 June, YB Dato Hj. Mohd Noorazam Bin Dato' Hj. Osman, Datuk Bandar MBJB (Mayor of MBJB), officially launched the Kios Bacaan Komuniti KDSM and told the story of Johor Bahru to the young children at the playground.

Volunteers from the Malaysian Association of Speech-Language and Hearing (MASH) spent their time storytelling. The MASH volunteers taught the KDSM kids how to do arts & crafts and played interactive games.

Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB) on this day signed the MOU together with Rotary Club of Johor Bahru Sentral dan Happy-Riders Connect to realise the Kios Bacaan Komuniti (library kiosk) at Taman Permainan Jalan Bunga Melati, Kampung Dato’ Sulaiman Menteri for community use in the area.
